Birth
A prince in ancient Egypt, Tutankhamun was born around 1314 BCE. His father Akhenaten was Pharaoh of Egypt in either 1353 or 1351 BCE, roughly 17 years during the 18th dynasty of Egypt's New Kingdom. Tutankhamun was born to his father's lesser wive, not to his main wife, the powerful Nefertiti. His birth name was Tutankhaten ( living image of Aten), and later he changed his name to Tutankhamun ( living image of Amun ).

Akhenaten a Radical Father
Tutankhamun's father was a religious radical. He swipe away the entire thousand years of ancient Egypt's religion and forced people to worship only the sun god Aten. In honor of god Aten, he built a new capital city called Amarna.
Becoming a Pharaoh
His father died when he was only seven. A few years later, he married his half-sister and became a Pharaoh. He was only nine when he became Pharaoh, and his powerful general named Horemheb helped him rule the country.

Restoring Old Faith and Beliefs
Tutankhamun and his advisor tried to fix the changes that were made by his father as many Egyptian people were unhappy about his father's religious reform. He even moved back capital city, the city of Memphis. Under his rule, old temples were repaired and Egypt returned to its old gods.
Death
He died around the age of nineteen. The reason behind his death is still unknown. Some believe he was assassinated, but the cause of his death was a wound to his leg. Scientists discovered his leg was badly injured and broken before his death.
Burial
He was buried with a wide variety of objects and possessions, such as coffins, furniture, clothing, and jewelry. For thousand of years his tomb was hidden from the world. Later in 1922, discovered by archeologist Howard Carter.
